About Lake & Lines
Lake & Lines is a practical British freshwater fishing journal covering tackle, technique and getting started on stillwaters.
There's a lot of fishing advice out there, but a fair chunk of it assumes you already know what you're doing, or it's aimed at competitive anglers chasing PBs with setups that cost more than a weekend away. Lake & Lines exists for everyone else: people who want to go fishing, catch a few fish, and actually enjoy themselves without spending months decoding the jargon first.
The site focuses on stillwater coarse fishing in Britain, particularly float fishing and feeder fishing, and the kind of day sessions that most people can realistically fit around work and family. Whether you've never held a rod or you're dusting off gear that's been in the shed for a decade, the idea is to give you something useful rather than something impressive.
You'll find guides to getting started, explanations of tackle and how it fits together, honest reviews of equipment at sensible price points, and practical advice on things like fish care, fishery rules, and what to expect from your first visit to a commercial lake. It's the sort of content we wished existed when we were figuring it out ourselves.
Everything on the site goes through research, writing, and editorial review before it's published. Product information is checked and updated on a rolling basis. We try to be clear about what we know from experience and what we've established through research, and we don't pretend otherwise.
Some of the links on the site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy something after clicking through. It doesn't cost you anything extra, and it doesn't change what we cover or how we assess it. We'd tell you about the same products regardless.
If something's unclear, out of date, or you just want to ask a question, write to us at [email protected]. We're always glad to hear from readers.
